Police and protesters clash in central London

Published on 11 Jun 2013
Central London was the scene of running clashes between police and anti-capitalist demonstrators on Tuesday. Activists marched through the British capital’s West End at the start of StopG8’s ‘Carnival Against Capitalism’, ahead of next week’s G8 summit.

Carrying placards with messages that bashed banks, prisons, and borders, the demonstrators beat drums and blew whistles as they made their way through Oxford Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus. Police were seen detaining and arresting a number of people, sometimes following violent struggle. The protests were not planned in coordination with authorities.

Riot police also detained several protesters following a raid of a central London property. According to the police, people in the building may have been planning to use weapons to cause criminal damage and engage in violent disorder.

The Carnival Against Capitalism is being held ahead of the meeting of the Group of Eight most powerful economies in Northern Ireland. StopG8 promises on its website to “point out the hiding places of power, and take back the heart of our city for a day.” It has also scheduled a “street party” for early Tuesday evening.

Global leaders will gather at the Lough Erne hotel and golf resort on June 17-18 for the 39th G8 summit. Security has been tightened near the resort, and in Belfast, ahead of expected protests.

DHS spying on peaceful protesters, says it’s legal

On Tuesday the advocacy group Partnership for Civil Justice Fund released new documents that show the Department of Homeland Security is conducting surveillance on peaceful protest groups, like Occupy Wall Street. DHS is claiming it has every right to keep track on peaceful demonstrators, but critics say it’s an abuse of their power.

According to the documents it turns out, DHS has been spying on peaceful, law abiding citizens since 2006, and they say it’s legal. For more Michael Brooks a producer for The Majority Report joins us.

Students protest school cuts in Italy

Hundreds of students in Milan clashed with police during protests against cuts to education in Italy. Students carrying shields and wearing motorcycle helmets threw eggs and oranges at police in riot gear. At one point, dozens of riot police charged the protesters, hitting them repeatedly with batons and forcing them away from regional government offices.

Protesters also gathered in Rome on Friday to voice their anger at the Italian government and European Union austerity measures, which they claim are affecting the right to education, and impoverishing public schools.

Spain Police Beating Everyone

Spain’s police state has spiraled out of control as riot police are now running throughout the streets beating everyone in sight, men and woman, young and old.

When the people demand democracy from an oligarchy that rules their subjects trough the strong-arm of a totalitarian police state the streets fill with the madness and mayhem seen in this video.

Since September 25th the masses of Spain, no longer being able to feed themselves or their families, have risen up against the oligarchy to protest further budget cuts and massive tax increases, a situation so dire it threatens their very survival.

Recording the Police Is Necessary

Its time to realise the elite have enslaved us all while using costumed thugs to make you fall into line even with brute force and the thugs never face criminal charges because there is a law for slaves and one for masters, who gave police fake powers over humans politicians who have no power over us because they are there to serve us not oppress us, so wake up they tell police they can have all the toys and powers they want all they must do is serve the corporate elite while being funded by the people.

The United States and UK has growing problem with police abuse, brutality, and corruption. It is essential for civilians to document their encounters with police officers to ensure transparency, accountability, and safety to all of those involved.

If you see something, film something, the freedom of press begins with you!

Police departments have, for too long, tried to bully, intimidate, threaten, arrest, or otherwise harass law abiding citizens from recording the activities of law enforcement in public. Enough is enough! It is time for all of us to take a stand and expose police brutality when we witness it and as they refuse to be held accountable we mus now disarm them when we see them acting outside the law we have a duty o unite and strip them of their weapons and costume and send a message to the elite that their hired thugs will no longer be tollerated in a civil society we will police ourselves without the need for revenue raising agents..

Madrid Spain riot police new targets – Journalists

On September 25, 2012 there was a demonstration in order to surround the Congress. This action ended in a police charge that led to the riot body to enter the near Atocha station to hit and shoot the protesters and had retreated, which could be a police action of doubtful validity.

In this context, several members of the press were identified, attacked, threatened and probably reported by riot members who refused to turn to give his identification number even carried. This video chronicles the assault on journalists.
